Three Poems

Let Go

Enough of your allegations and ill will!
You are not the only one whose job was discontinued.
In every directorate there were insufficiencies
and before the re-org,
wasteful redundancies across the board.
Headhunters brought in new blood.
Can you fault us for receiving?

Year to year, you could wander from floor to floor
and still not locate your corner office!
We took the walls down,
we set up modules, supple spaces.
Even the desks have wheels.
Flexibility is the core skill these days
and you were never made of pliant clay.
Fired to the breaking point is what you were,
shards are what you’ve become.
You are not useful to anyone anymore.
