Sarah Andrews graduated from Mercyhurst College with a BA in English and a writing concentration in 2005, and she will receive her MA in writing and publishing from Emerson College in December 2007. She currently resides in Salem with her husband and their crazy cat, Ashley. Sarah enjoys reading, dance, yoga and pilates, and knitting. Elizabeth Stark, Editor-in-Chief
Elizabeth Stark has a BA from Tufts University, an MFA in fiction writing from Emerson College, and is currently pursuing an MS in New Media Journalism at Columbia University. In addition to her obsessions with Xena, Buffy, and Twin Peaks, she enjoys writing stern letters to elected officials, samurai film, soapmaking, and fighting consumer culture. Back to Editors
Sarah Miles, Managing Editor
Sarah Miles is a summa cum laude graduate of Towson University, where she received a BA in English literature. She received her MFA in fiction at Emerson College in 2006. Among other things, she has worked as a sculptor's assistant, a special education aide, and a maid, and has lived in Maryland, California, Montana, and Massachusetts. She aims to have lived in all the M-states by the time she dies—only five more to go. Back to Editors

Joanna Green considers a large body of water a prerequisite for attending school. She recently traded Lake Superior, after graduating from the University of Minnesota Duluth with a BA in English, for the Atlantic Ocean aside UMass Boston, where she's finishing an MA in English Literature. Apart from particular interests in queer theory, feminist studies, and ecocriticism, she spends her days working at Beacon Press. Back to Editors

Julia Henderson graduated from Vassar College with a BA in history in 2001, and received her MA in writing and publishing from Emerson College in May 2006. Her passions are print production and electronic publishing, and she passes her days working as a media producer for a textbook publishing company. Julia spends a lot of time designing poetry chapbooks, making papercrafts, touting feminism, badmouthing corporate media, and writing reviews on Yelp.com. Back to Editors
Elizabeth Parfitt, Non-Fiction Editor
Elizabeth Parfitt has a BA in English from Penn State University and graduated with an MFA in creative writing from Emerson College in December 2005. She is a creative nonfiction writer with interests in column-writing and personal essays, focusing on themes such as identity and pop culture in America. Elizabeth teaches essay and research writing at Emerson, and has published articles in State College Magazine,Research/Penn State, and Boston Magazine. Back to Editors
Anna Lena Phillips, Poetry Editor and (de)Classified Editor
Anna Lena Phillips was Mr. F in her kindergarten class's Alphabet Parade. Is it anything other than divine coincidence, then, that she has ended up with the journal Fringe? Also, why do they assign gender to letters of the alphabet? In addition to these questions, Anna Lena is interested in prosody, bioregionalism, Southern women poets, playing old-time banjo, and riding her bike. She received a BA in English and environmental studies from Guilford College in 2000, and an MFA in creative writing from Emerson College in December 2006. She is happy to be back in North Carolina. Janell Sims graduated summa cum laude from the University of Texas at San Antonio with a BA in English, and finished her MA in Publishing and Writing from Emerson in 2005. She is currently a Production Coordinator at Houghton Mifflin, customizing college textbooks and discussing books at length with her coworkers. She is actively involved with her local church and enjoys hosting parties, advocating feminism while sipping martinis, and dispelling those pesky Texas stereotypes of big hair and fundamental narrow-mindedness. Katie Spencer graduated from Skidmore College in 2004 and is now tiptoeing toward a Master's degree in publishing and writing at Emerson. She works for a nonprofit book publisher in Boston and spends her spare time playing in dirt, eating things that grow in dirt, supporting independent bookstores, assessing microbrews, shaking tambourines, and watching baseball.
